I'm curious if others have insurance policies for their seed banks. Our herbarium collection has additional insurance so it seems like seed collections could as well. Does anyone have additional insurance for their seed collections? How do you apply value to your collections?

John Clark offered a lovely comment at the end of my talk asking how I keep up energy and enthusiasm. I didn't answer this at the podium as well as I'd liked. Truth is I actively cultivate a positive outlook. I had no idea until a couple of years ago that positive psychology was a field of study in applied neuroscience. I'm learning more about neural plasticity, psychological strength, bouncebacks to setbacks, growth mindset versus fixed.

Please share your thoughts on limitations or challenges you experience in plant conservation that a technological solution might address. These can be big picture questions such as limitations in overall resources, data sharing challenges or the need for 25 hour days and a cure for sleeping!

The Best Practices and general literature (including CPC books) can be pretty overwhelming for a new operation trying to quickly start doing ex situ conservation work, or the garden may have very limited staff and/or infrastructure. Is it possible to summarize/create an essentials checklist? Does one exist already? It would be great to offer a succinct reference on how and where should a new group should start the work of ex situ conservation.

What techniques have garden directors and PIs found most effective to discuss plant risk, conservaqtion, and related topics with their audeinces and membership? What can CPC learn from their experiences to increase awareness and knowledge of CPC and its misssion and work.

The goal stated in our IMLS grant is to bring the expertise of the CPC network to a larger audience. What communication channels (listservs, conferences) or communication strategies (marketing, social media) would be most useful in spreading encourage stake holders such as government agencies, land managers, garden clubs, and conservation-minded citizens to utilize the resources on this site.

I, personally, am over the moon about the new water coolers. I found the last version (which had a tall base) to be an occupational hazard.
